8 top tips on how to enjoy revision!

Hi guys,

So its come to that time of year where people are starting to revise for exams, whether they are big or little and I don't know about you but I don't think there's anybody I know who enjoys doing revision. Unfortunately its a thing that all of us have to do at some point (unless you're a brain box) so I thought I could give you some advice on how to enjoy revision!

  1. Find a comfy spot to work in! In my personal opinion there is nothing worse than being uncomfortable when revising, it just makes you feel more stressed. Although, if you find it easier to work on the kitchen table or at a desk than your bed or a sofa, then carry on doing so.
  2. Have some close by snacks. There's nothing that makes you feel more tired than exercising your brain (especially when its in a subject you hate!) maybe some close by fruit, chocolate or sugary snacks will help pick you up so that you can soldier on in the tasks.
  3. colours! whilst revising, your brain needs to see some colour and excitement going into those mind maps or other revision techniques, plus adding colour is a fun thing to do throughout hours of boredom.
  4. resting breaks your brain needs time to rest as much as your legs do after a race. Don't forget to take regular breaks of 15-20 minutes to help keep your body fuelled and awake
  5. Water your brain is made up of 75% water, don't forget to stay hydrated to avoid headaches!
  6. Turn your phone off A mobile phone or electronic devise can be a very distracting thing, especially when it is far more interesting than revision! try to keep it turned off as long as possible to disrupt your revision flow.
  7. Fresh air open up a window or maybe go for a walk as part of your break to keep you body topped up with fresh oxygen.
  8. Help! don't be scared to ask for help if you need it, you can ask a friend, family member or even  a teacher, don't struggle

I hope my tips help you and I wish you every bit of luck in upcoming exams! :)

Being scared and why its bad

We all have fears and are scared of things, even the bravest of people have them. I have countless amounts of things I'm scared of at the moment such as spiders, germs, large heights, changing my hairstyle and people finding out about my blog.

Maybe there are some things in the world you need to be scared of and you shouldn't try get over them. There are other things that we all know it would be better if we did get over them. The word scared seems to be some sort of protective shield. If you say you're scared of heights, I'm not going to tell you to climb the highest mountain and jump off right? Being scared forces you to hide away from a problem and that's not a good thing.

I'm scared that people will find out about this blog. That's not because I'm ashamed of it, it's because I'm worried about what other people will think if they found out. At this moment, being scared for me is using my protective shield as a barrier to stop them coming near my blog. I can't even decide whether that's a good or bad thing because if I use the shield I'm protecting myself from how the world could hurt me. If I stopped being scared people would see my blog and I would be expressing who I am completely and I shouldn't be ashamed of who I am.

When you're scared, it's not the actual thing you're worried about. I wouldn't be physically scared  about climbing up a mountain, I would only be scared of the consequences which would be hurting myself if I fell. Being scared is a safety net and it stops you from falling and hurting yourself, but to overcome these fears maybe you need to fall and if you get hurt as we can make you better again.

I shouldn't care about if people find out who I am because if I get hurt I can get bandaged up and carry on with life. Don't  shy away from something because you're scared of getting hurt of judged ,otherwise your not expressing who you really are and you need to be you. If I don't climb up the mountain I won't be able experience the beauty of it.

At the begining of this post I wasn't sure if being scared was a good thing. Now I know it's not, as you're only protecting yourself from the good that may come out from dealing with it.

I hoped this may of helped some of you, feel free to leave comments :)

Friendships and life

friendship

noun

1.      the emotions or conduct of friends; the state of being friends.

"old ties of love and friendship

I've had my fair share of fallouts with friends, including a very personal and hurtful one last year, in which the relationship with my ex-best friend has completely disappeared to a point in which the only communication we probably have is a couple of smile and hellos in the corridor and at most maybe a sentence or two. Since the time of the fallout I've begun to question my every move of when I say things to others and how I phrase sentences it as even my old "best friend" used to misunderstand me thinking that I was being sly or strange. For a while, during the previous year I thought that the whole friendship group that I used to be apart of wasn't going very well however I felt unable to speak up about it and then with the issues that we had would have during the time we were friends would have been discarded or blown over without me having said anything, but deep down it still kind of hurt.

Sometimes I have moments when I'll think about what had happened and feel genuinely sad about it and I'd think about what would be different about my everyday life, as you friendship groups play a massive part of it. However, in a way I'm happy that our friendships ended otherwise I wouldn't have got to  know the my amazing friends and best friends that I have today. Without these wonderful people I wouldn't feel as happy as I do today or as free because f something is wrong I feel as if I can speak up about is as they hopefully feel the same way about that too.

If you are feeling uncomfortable in a friendship or friendship group that you are apart of, don't feel as if you can't do or say anything about it, as who you are friends with is completely your choice. Be with the people who make you feel happy, good and safe.

Finally, to all of my wonderful friends who will probably be reading this in the due course, thank you all and I love you guys :)

What I did in York!

Hi guys,

Today i thought I would write a post about what I did in York. For anyone who doesn't know, York is in the north of Yorkshire in England. I went to York with my parents and a friend and we had an absolutely brilliant time, i would recommend going there.

What i did in York

When I was in York, we went shopping instead of tourism and they had some great shops such as Urban Outfitters, Joy, Fat face, Levi, The Yorkshire Soap company and so much more! The purchases I made in York were a off the shoulder top, half turtle neck, a plain white t-shirt from Newlook. In York i came across a few chocolate shops too, so i decided to buy some gorgeous Belgian chocolate and also a chocolate shot which was a small chocolate cup with hot Belgian melted chocolate inside, unfortunately i have no photos of this! My friend also bought a beautiful turtle neck top from Urban outfitters which you can find here- http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/uk/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=5110466960236&parentid=WOMENS-TOPS-EU#/

For lunch I went to Betty's tea rooms which is a must if you go to York and it was beautiful!

From the tea rooms I got a Hot chocolate with cream and chocolate sprinkles, a chocolate and raspberry torte, a salmon afternoon tea sandwich and of course some chips! It was all quite delicious!

A picture of the lovely betty's tea rooms

The Yorkshire soap company had some gorgeous smelling goods in it too so I bought a soap cake! They're are all sorts of things which would be especially good a presents.

Overall it was an amazing day and if you have any questions feel free to ask them!
